Pandemic Year 1: July 2020

July started with a bang. The bar across the street decided to do their own illegal fireworks show, but with the wind the major/professional style fireworks they lit off kept drifting and going off near my roof. My dog, who has never minded fireworks in her 11 years on this earth freaked out as the booms and lights kept getting closer. At one time I felt the heat and embers hit me from the fireworks. Miraculously they didn't burn down my condo. Beyond that, July was pretty chill. After the whirlwind of hikes in June, I stayed mostly home in

I feel like this was a busy month and beyond the work trip I'll talk about below, the main highlight this month was attending the Reddit Modshow Denver edition. It was fun meeting some local legends and talk to Reddit employees about modding.   View this post on Instagram   Upvote for drunken mods. #reddit #modshow A post shared by Lili (@liliontheloose) on Sep 20, 2019 at 10:34pm PDT Travel This month I had a huge event in Chicago for work. I was going to meet my new team for the first time so was really stressed out. In the

Getting Over Eating Alone

I use to be incredibly shy and introverted. So I already knew my first solo business trip back in 2010 was going to push me to my limits (and it did right away with sitting in the cockpit of an airplane!) But, I figured it would be fine. I'd be at a resort with my clients and all their employees. I'd have my meals with them, I'd get to know them well. It would be good, it would be fine. It wasn't. It turns out that this three-day employee conference I flew out for...actually only had the "trade show floor" open

Travel Missteps: What a View!

By |April 24th, 2017|Categories: Travel, Travel Missteps|Tags: , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I've never worked in a real skyscraper. Which is why I was so fascinated when I was in Boston working with clients on an event. Working for a few days with amazing views of downtown Boston, Charles River, and the bay was a unique experience. But wasn't without peril. As one of my clients was showing me around the office, I spied a beautiful view of the bay, and in my excitement ran boob first into a transparent glass conference room wall, bouncing back stunned and confused. I had moved so fast, that it made a large bump noise and my breasts

The Best Custom Photo Blanket of All Time

By |April 1st, 2016|Categories: Photography|Tags: , , , , , |0 Comments

I worked for years for a company that provided websites and technical supports for photo labs and their customers so you could place orders online. Working that job I saw a lot of bizarre things and was yelled at a lot. Nothing really phased me towards the end. So when a customer asked to be bumped to a supervisor, I took the chat. This particular product took nearly 2 weeks to make, as it was pretty much hand woven (or so they claimed) and then you had to add whatever (cheap) shipping the customer chose. So understandably as it was

Travel Missteps: The Early Morning Dilemma

Time Changes can be killer. Especially if you do not have any time to get use to it. I was in Toronto for a weekend to assist a client activation. On the day of the event, the call time to the studio was 5:50 AM. To ensure I had enough time to get up, get ready, wake up, have breakfast and walk the 30 minutes to the studio I set my alarm for 4:30 AM. But this seemed so cruel. Because I was now 2 time zones ahead, 4:30AM seemed like 2:30 AM to me. So it was going to

Wowfactor at CES

A few years ago I was at the CES show in Las Vegas. It was hard work, and on the last day I had 20 minutes to wander the show floor. I snapped this photo of I think the Toshiba or Logitech booth, not knowing what the cool massive sculpture was. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the photo that I realized the entire thing was made out of computers, tvs, and smart phones! Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
