I feel like this was a busy month and beyond the work trip I’ll talk about below, the main highlight this month was attending the Reddit Modshow Denver edition. It was fun meeting some local legends and talk to Reddit employees about modding.

Travel

This month I had a huge event in Chicago for work. I was going to meet my new team for the first time so was really stressed out. In the end I love my new team, and even though the days were long, I enjoyed the event! I also took a half day off to go see some of the Chicago sights!

Highlights

  • The Art Institute of Chicago just simply has an amazing collection, Van Gogh, Monet, O’Keeffe, and more. I wish I was feeling better but had to rush through this, but it was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.

I love the ancient art.

  • Even though I wasn’t feeling well I made it to the Field Museum. SUE the T-Rex is a BEAST! I loved the way they display her and the effects! I cannot wait to see what museums think of next.

Challenges

  • The plague made its way through, and I caught it on the last day. Nothing like wandering around a quiet museum coughing and hacking with a fever trying to just power through it when you feel like you are going to die. My travel kit now contains a lot more medicine because of this trip.
  • The weather towards the end was apocalyptic rainstorms, to the point that many of my co-workers were delayed a full day due to the weather (but as I was staying an extra day it didn’t really affect me.)
  • The Field Museum had their Triceratops covered due to work on a nearby space. I was so bummed! I go to museums FOR Triceratops! But I did get to make my own model Triceratops which was fun!

  • The Chicago “Bean” wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be.

Watchlist

TV

I finally finished Continuum even though I started hating the main character. I only finished as the series was being pulled off Netflix and I wanted to know how it ended. I also finished The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, who would have thought a simple “I’m bored, lets see what this “Hogwarts for Vampires” show is about” would turn into watching THREE series on Vampires, Witches, and Werewolfs.  I also started Another Life starring Katee Sackhoff, as space show I really enjoyed and hope it gets another season.

Movies

I’m sure I watched other movies, but the only one I can recall was Late Night.

What’s Next

I’ve got a friends’ wedding in Washington DC next month! Excited for that and a little road trip afterwards!
