Local Activities: The Beach at A Basin

By |March 15th, 2016|Categories: Local, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

In Colorado, when someone says they are "heading to the Beach" this doesn't conjure up images of white sand and the crash of the waves. Instead it means one of the 15 picnic areas at Arapahoe Basin. These highly sought after parking areas are perfect for events, as they have close proximity to 3 of the chairlifts at the resort. Check here for pricing and reservation information. As weather warms up, these areas take on a party atmosphere as people eat, drink, grill, and just hang out in-between runs. My company has had a Beach Party Ski Day for the

Today should be the next post in the Egypt Travelogue series, featuring the Great Pyramids of Giza. But...I ran out of time to write it because I'm planning my next trip to Las Vegas. So instead of the Great Pyramids, here is the pyramid of Vegas at the Luxor! So with your pyramid fix for the day complete, lets talk about Las Vegas. I'll go going for work at a trade show at The Venetian but I've decided to stay a couple of days afterwards on my own. I've been to Vegas many times for various trade shows and I've

My father works for CSU, and took me to visit his satellite store in downtown Fort Collins. The problem is? I graduation from CU, the hometown rival of CSU. So when people stared chanting in a round "Go RAMS!" and it came to me, I shouted proudly and loudly "GO BUFFS!" And was subsequently asked to leave the store. But not before I could snap a photo of the beautiful stained glass dome in the store. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw.  Sunday October 25, 2015 Egypt: Day 4, Part 4 - Saqqara Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara. As we pulled up to the complex at Saqqara it started to rain. I realized I didn't want to walk around with my big heavy bag any longer and so took out just some of the essentials into a sack. (This would be a big mistake.) Upon stepping out I found the rain to be mostly just sprinkles, and

Museum Monday: Art Deco Cartier Sakura Bracelet

By |January 25th, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit in 2015 called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. The exhibit was laid out in early work, then geometric patterns, and then art deco. After that were 3 themed sections on India, Egypt and the far east. After that was beautiful work on mystery clocks, tutti frutti designs, and jaguar designs. Next you had a chance to learn more about the workshop and process in creating the designs as well as the artwork to create these gorgeous works of art. Then you had more

Museum Monday: Triceratops Horridus at the Smithsonian

By |January 11th, 2016|Categories: Dinosaurs, Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

In the summer of 2013 I was able to visit many of the wonderful free museums of Washington, DC. One of my favorite was the Natural History museum, mainly because of their large Triceratops fossil. Triceratops are my favorite dinosaur, but before this trip I had never seen the fossils of the body! All the ones I had seen before were the head only. So it was a treat to see this exhibit. Sadly, in 2014 the Fossil Hall is undergoing renovations until 2019...which is a long time away from now. They do have a smaller exhibit elsewhere in the
