Museum Monday: What Lies Beneath the Smithsonian

When I was little I dreamed of being an archeologist, a paleontologist, a museum curator, or a librarian. I loved learning about old things and collecting them. While I ended up on a different career path, museums still fascinate me. I've been lucky to be a member of my local Natural History museum, and they've had a few behind the scenes nights to see their collection storage area. But check out these photos from the Smithsonian museums in DC! Its amazing as these are just a small portion of the collection! Entomology Collection Anthropological Collection

Museum Monday: Amelia’s Vega

By |May 16th, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

84 Years ago Amelia Earhart was preparing to fly this cherry red Lockheed Vega 5B across the atlantic by herself. These were just two of her amazing feats performed in this plane. Be sure to check it out at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

Triceratops are my favorite dinosaur, but before this trip I had never seen the fossils of the body! All the ones I had seen before were the head only. So it was a treat to see this exhibit. Sadly, in 2014 the Fossil Hall is undergoing renovations until 2019...which is a long time away from now. They do have a smaller exhibit elsewhere in the

Goodbye 2013! You were a good year. Here are some of the travel highlights: I went to Las Vegas twice for work, and had the opportunity to experience the craziness that is CES first hand. My favorite food experience was learning the history and how to make chocolate in Antigua, Guatemala. There is a 3 way tie for the “I never thought I’d…” Climb to the top of a Mayan Pyramid at Tikal, Guatemala Hike over a mile into the earth and free climb rock formations to see Mayan sacrifices at Actun Tunichil Muknal in Belize.
