In Colorado, when someone says they are “heading to the Beach” this doesn’t conjure up images of white sand and the crash of the waves. Instead it means one of the 15 picnic areas at Arapahoe Basin. These highly sought after parking areas are perfect for events, as they have close proximity to 3 of the chairlifts at the resort. Check here for pricing and reservation information. As weather warms up, these areas take on a party atmosphere as people eat, drink, grill, and just hang out in-between runs.
My company has had a Beach Party Ski Day for the last 3 years running. Here is last year, which despite how it looks was a nice 60 degree day. (Nice for me as I don’t ski, so I kept the party going at The Beach!)
While the year before was a balmy 30 degrees. I’m the “babushka lady” holding a blanket. I was so cold.
Today was 2016 Ski Day, but with the HIGH of 20 degrees, and snow forecasted I passed. Here’s hoping next year is a tad warmer!
