Travel Missteps: The Lost Sunglasses x6

By |February 18th, 2019|Categories: Travel, Travel Missteps|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Showing off my new cute sunglasses! I was happy to find them the day before because I had already had one pair of sunglasses break (and ducktape wasn't enough to fix them), and I had left another pair at a hotel, and lost another pair. So this is sunglasses number 4 for a short trip. And I loved these glasses. Cute, cheap, but still polarized! Of course, they didn't last long. I tried to hold onto them as we all hung out in the waves. All it took was a huge wave and bam they were gone. I was forced

Deep Boarding/Coral Surfing/Aqua Boarding in Bocas Del Toro

By |January 24th, 2019|Categories: Activities, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Ever want to fly and spin through the water like a dolphin or swim with fishes like a mermaid? Then you should head to Bocas Del Toro Panama to try this activity out! I've heard this sport called a few different things. My tour company called it "Aqua Boarding", while I've seen others refer to it as "Deep Boarding". But when I first heard of it, it was called "Coral Surfing" by one of my favorite bloggers Alex in Wanderland. Essentially, you are pulled from a boat. But instead of a water ski device, you have a board, and you

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Monday November 2, 2015 Egypt: Day 12, Part 1 – Valley of the Kings Once again, I awoke early to finish packing as we'd not be returning to the cruise ship, our bags instead would be taken onto our next hotel. I paid the last of my bill and then we all piled into a bus to take us to the Valley of the Kings. We crossed the Nile and past green fields and local houses and came out into

2017 Year in Review

By |January 2nd, 2018|Categories: Year in Review|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

2017 was a busy year for me. I got in 4 trips, 175 blog posts, and lots and lots of Netflix. Here are my highlights for the year: Travel All my trips this year were really last minute (at least to me) trips. I booked my Costa Rica/Panama trip about 2 months in advance, my LA/Anaheim/Irvine trip was very quick, same with Charlotte, and Santa Fe, NM I only planned one activity. So it was a weird non-planned year for travel. I'd never thought I'd... Travel to 3 different places, on different trips, in one month. In December I had

Entrance to the Hanging Church of Coptic Cairo

I always marvel at the intricate details of old world churches. Many of the ones where I grew up were large mega churches built during the last few decades. But when I first saw the scale and beauty of churches of Europe I was amazed. And then when I visited Coptic Cairo the ancient Hanging Church was so beautiful. The details of the decorations were so unique. The mesmerizing geometric patters I haven't seen in a church before. Here are just a few photos from the entrance.

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Sunday November 1, 2015 Egypt: Day 11, Part 3 – Luxor Stroll In Aswan and Kom Ombo our cruise ship had been tied up in a row with another ship, so we actually left our lobby and entered directly into another ship's lobby before getting to a gangplank to go ashore. However, in Luxor, hundreds of ships were tied up along the shore, sometimes 10 deep. But this time they weren't fancy other cruise ships, but the decaying unused ones.

Museum Monday: Kom Ombo Temple at Night

By |October 30th, 2017|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I was lucky two years ago to be spending Halloween Night visiting Kom Ombo Temple. This unique temple is of Ptolemaic origin, and is unusual in that it is dedicated with symmetrical temples, one to the crocodile god Sobek, and the other the falcon headed god Haroeris (Horus the Elder). It was almost mystical being one of the last few people walking the temple that night.
