The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has a wonderful temporary Dinosaur exhibit. Nearly all of the fossils displayed were new to me, so that was exciting. This exhibit features many recently discovered southern hemisphere dinosaurs. What really wowed me was walking into the main room and seeing all of the massively large fossils. Every other place I've seen dinosaurs at, there was just one or two, and never a full room of them. So I just stood fascinated by these huge animals for a bit before going up and looking at the details. I'll be posting follow up posts on
Fall and Halloween is my favorite time of the year. So many fun activities! Early in the month I went to Dinos After Dark at the Denver Zoo and saw some amazing pumpkin carvings and dinosaurs! Then in the middle of the month I went to a haunted house with some co-workers. And of course, it wouldn't be Halloween without some kick ass costumes! This year I was Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus! My backup costume was a Jurassic Park Labtech. Recommended Reading Lili on the Loose I love fall events and put together this list of a lot of fun
I had been meaning to see the Dinosaur Exhibit at the Denver Zoo for months. But never made it. So when I realized it was closing after Halloween I got myself in gear! I visited it at night, during the Dinos After Dark Halloween lights event. I'd highly recommend seeing it during this event. Throughout the zoo there are moving dinosaurs lit up with multi-colored lights. Some even make sounds! Here are some of my favorite photos: Closest thing to a Triceratops a Diabloceratops A volcano! I was amused at this one in front of "Bird World", its a utahraptor.
I love fall - that moment before the weather turns wintery cold, crunchy golden-red leaves to jump in, harvest foods and cider, and Halloween and haunted houses! So for work I did a lunch-n-learn where I shared the best fall events people should know about! I started with some local haunted trivia (such as Linger originally being a Mortuary, the Stanley Hotel being an inspiration for the Shining, and that my work's office use to be a paper company with an obligatory joke about Dunder Mifflin.) We then swapped stories about local haunts! It was a lot of fun. So I wanted
This 37" x 25" pocket of over 100 aquamarine and other crystals is called Diane's Pocket and was discovered in 2004 near the summit of Mount Antero. It is the largest aquamarine find in North America, discovered by amateur Steve Brancato. It's on permanent display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.
This month was the three E's at work. Elitches, Eclipse, Escape! This month we had a company Elitches day (a local Denver theme park). I was worried that I'd be bored, as I don't like most rides. But I had some great coworkers that got me to take baby steps with various rides before convincing me to ride a real roller coaster! First time ever in my life! I found if I close my eyes, its not bad at all. (Probably from all the dark jostling in the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride!) Then we did a morning
I love the way the glass balls reflect on the water. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
Not much going on this month. I did get a new phone (my first in 4 years!) So that was exciting. But I was also sad to hear about Chester Bennington's death. I went to a Vikings exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and a Rockies game with my company. Here my team getting ready for the game: Recommended Reading Lili on the Loose So, there were a lot of Egypt posts this month. Usually I try to spread them out, but....I was tired this month, and so pulled up posts that were scheduled later in the
June was a busy month! First there were epic paintball battles! And then it was ladies' paint night with the girls! And then it was my trip to Panama.... Travel Panama has been on my wishlist for a while, as I heard they had great beaches and good snorkeling! I decided on a longer trip that also went to parts of Costa Rica I hadn't been to before. This was the first time I tried not to have everything planned and instead go with the flow! Highlights Going clubbing for the first time! Relaxing views like this one! And it
