Local Art: The Art Vending Machine Built on Trust

In a world where we can have almost anything on demand, Fine Art is something still out of reach for many people. That is why I've been fascinated by so-called "Art Vending Machines", but had yet to see one in person. So when I heard about Blue Chipped an exhibit at Understudy in Downtown Denver, I had to check it out. I’m sitting inside this blue kiosk downtown from 4-8 pm TODAY 💙serving up mini $20 paintings and 1 trillion calories of free blue candy and hot teas... you should come say hi to me through the kiosk windows! 💙💙🍭💙💙🍵💙💙🍭💙💙🍵💙💙🍭 A

Souvenir Saturday: Fall in Boston

By |September 16th, 2017|Categories: Souvenirs, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I got this beautiful watercolor at Paul Rever Mall, part of the freedom trail and just outside of the Old North Church where Paul Rever hanged his two lanterns in warning. This park was full of crunchy fall leaves that I enjoyed jumping on, so I was happy to see this artist selling this painting to remind me of being in Boston in the fall. Souvenir Saturday is an every-other week series on the items that represent travel memories.

June was a busy month! First there were epic paintball battles! And then it was ladies' paint night with the girls! And then it was my trip to Panama.... Travel Panama has been on my wishlist for a while, as I heard they had great beaches and good snorkeling! I decided on a longer trip that also went to parts of Costa Rica I hadn't been to before. This was the first time I tried not to have everything planned and instead go with the flow! Highlights Going clubbing for the first time! Relaxing views like this one! And it

Souvenir Saturday: Resplendent Quetzal

While exploring the small island of Flores, Guatemala I spied this large wooden painting featuring Guatemala's state bird, the Resplendent Quetzal. As I had a smaller wooden painting from Costa Rica, I thought this would be a good addition to my collection! Souvenir Saturday is an every-other week series on the items that represent travel memories.

Souvenir Saturday: Waterfall Wood Art

By |March 4th, 2017|Categories: Souvenirs, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

The day after I injured myself while zip lining, I decided to hang around Montezuma while the rest of the group went on a road trip trying to find great beaches to hang out at. As I still had a minor concussion, I mostly just walked the small main street and shopped a bit. One store I went into was sort of a depressing tourist market, that sold stuff like sun glasses, swimsuits, and sunscreen. I was about to discount it when I saw this on the wall. I had to laugh, this depicted the rope swing at the waterfalls

Souvenir Saturday: Mini Painting of Antigua

By |February 4th, 2017|Categories: Souvenirs, Travel|Tags: , , , , , |0 Comments

This is a miniature painting on an easel that shows Antigua's streets with the volcano lit up in the background by the moon. I really wanted a small painting like this to sit at my desk at work. And although this was a common souvenir it took me ages to track down. The problem was that either the work would be very poorly done or the prices would be outrageous. For example one store told me a small painting like this would be $80 USD. This was in a store that only sold various sizes of touristy paintings. I was the

Souvenir Saturday: Moon Art

By |January 9th, 2016|Categories: Souvenirs, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

In 2012 I headed to Seattle & Portland for a short trip. But I was lucky enough to be able to wander through Portland's Saturday Market before I left. One stall had this amazing artist that had a lot of surreal pantings of trees and moons. I could only afford (and carry on) a small piece but was glad of my purchase. Souvenir Saturday is an every-other week series on the items that represent travel memories.
