My Top Instagrams from 2023

This was a tough year. Starting with recovering from Wrist Surgery, plenty of physical therapy, and end ending with the death of my beloved Tessa. My Instagram top 9 is filled with photos from her last few weeks, and many comments from friends and family morning her passing. Thank you.   Beyond that, my Instagram was filled with photos from my NYC trip, but it seems beyond a work trip to Seattle, my more interacted posts were from local activities: the Colorado Renaissance Fair, a Spa day at the St. Julien, and catching Beetlejuice in Denver (a few days after

I love fall. I'm usually planning a ton of activities including haunted houses. But obviously, this year had to stick to more outdoor pursuits. For the first time I want to YA YA Orchard, a small apple orchard outside of Longmont, CO. I had heard about it for years but had no idea where it was.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) I enjoyed walking and viewing their animals, including peacocks, hens, donkeys, and horses. It was such a lovely fall day. That same day we then went on one of the

Pandemic Year 1: July 2020

July started with a bang. The bar across the street decided to do their own illegal fireworks show, but with the wind the major/professional style fireworks they lit off kept drifting and going off near my roof. My dog, who has never minded fireworks in her 11 years on this earth freaked out as the booms and lights kept getting closer. At one time I felt the heat and embers hit me from the fireworks. Miraculously they didn't burn down my condo. Beyond that, July was pretty chill. After the whirlwind of hikes in June, I stayed mostly home in

In May I really started settling into this new life. Tessa and I went on many walks, with many many pinecones being brought back as trophies.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) Of which Tessa was very happy.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) I finally saw Mom and Dad for the first time. They came over for a socially distance "Let's put Lili's Bike together" and we gave up halfway through. I also saw my friend Heather, she and her family came over

Museum Monday: Vader

Ralph McQuarrie greatly influenced the design of Star Wars. I was lucky to get a gift of one of his original art books from the 70's and then later when Denver Art Museum displayed his works alongside their Star Wars: The Power of Costumes I was excited to see this original painting. Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

Museum Monday: Scale of the Dinosaurs

By |November 18th, 2019|Categories: Dinosaurs, Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

A few years ago I went to an exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science called Ultimate Dinosaurs and I was struck by the size of Dinosaurs. This massive vertebra from an Argentinosaurus is as big as a person. This leg of a Futalognkosaurus Dukei made it clear no museum would ever be able to display a full specimen. It isn't just herbivores that are massive, this skull from a Carcharodontosaurus is huge, larger than a T-Rex. It really puts it in perspective how terrifying these animals were. Travel Luck: Puppies on a Plane

By |September 2nd, 2019|Categories: Travel, Travel Memories|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

One of my bucket list items was to sit next to a cute puppy on a flight. I've seen dogs on planes before, such as service dogs or older small dogs in carriers, but I was never near enough to pet the dog. So I was delighted to see this little pup standing in front of me on a Southwest flight a few years ago. She was flying from Denver to Orange County by her breeder, to meet her forever home. She was a Bernese Mountain Dog 8 week pup! She was very well behaved and was quiet throughout the
