Goodbye 2013! You were a good year. Here are some of the travel highlights:

I went to Las Vegas twice for work, and had the opportunity to experience the craziness that is CES first hand.

My favorite food experience was learning the history and how to make chocolate in Antigua, Guatemala.

There is a 3 way tie for the “I never thought I’d…”

  • Climb to the top of a Mayan Pyramid at Tikal, Guatemala
  • Hike over a mile into the earth and free climb rock formations to see Mayan sacrifices at Actun Tunichil Muknal in Belize.
  • Swim with sharks near Caye Caulker, Belize.

The best unexpected pleasure was golf cart racing in Caye Caulker, Belize.

My favorite museum was the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History, of couse because of their Triceratops collection.

Beyond travel in 2013…

  • My meetup group quickly broke the 1,000 member mark!
  • I met Kari and Tory of the Mythbusters!
  • I was able to visit with my grandfather one last time before he passed away in December.

Hello 2014!

In 2014 I plan to go to St. John, USVI again, and I’m excited for more snorkeling and rum! Beyond that I do not have much plans for travel. I hope to beef up my savings, and maybe plan a trip to Panama later on in the year. I also plan on writing more for this blog and introduce some more series in addition to the Travel Missteps posts.
