What to do in Colorado for Fall & Halloween Events

By |October 5th, 2017|Categories: Events, Local, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I love fall - that moment before the weather turns wintery cold, crunchy golden-red leaves to jump in, harvest foods and cider, and Halloween and haunted houses! So for work I did a lunch-n-learn where I shared the best fall events people should know about! I started with some local haunted trivia (such as Linger originally being a Mortuary, the Stanley Hotel being an inspiration for the Shining, and that my work's office use to be a paper company with an obligatory joke about Dunder Mifflin.) We then swapped stories about local haunts! It was a lot of fun. So I wanted

In Character Conversations: Pirates

By |September 21st, 2017|Categories: Activities, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Tuesday was "Talk Like A Pirate Day", and it reminded me of last year meeting the infamous pirate: Captain Jack Sparrow. He's an elusive character at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. You cannot meet him during the day, but often can see him during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. (Hence why I'm dressed as a cat.) He's actually the first character I met, and it happened very quickly. I had just gotten off the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, to see a line of people. It wasn't very long, so I decided to hop in the line, not really knowing

Scenes from St John, USVI

Hurricane Irma has devastated so many countries and islands, and sadly I hear my beloved island of St John in the US Virgin Islands has been hit pretty hard. And with Irma heading towards Florida, more devastation is on its way. With St John on my mind, I'm sharing some of my favorite landscape photos I took on my 2011 trip. View of Anna Point and Leinster Bay. Look at that gorgeous color water! The beautiful Trunk Bay. Looking towards Coral Bay and Hurricane Hole from Bordeaux Mountain. Rainbow over Francis Bay and Whistling

More Solid Travel Products!

By |August 24th, 2017|Categories: Product Review, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Last time we spoke about Lush's solid shampoo, solid conditioner, and solid toothpaste. This week I want to share the other solid products I travel with to avoid traveling with liquids. Solid Sunscreen My all time favorite solid product discovery is solid sunscreen. I HATE sunscreen. I hate having to put it on, the feel of it on my skin. I hate it in general. And because of my fair skin, I need a lot of it. But Neutrogena's Solid Sunscreen is my lifesaver. I used this in Egypt and didn't get burn at all. I now use this as

Hieroglyphs of Philae Temple

By |July 27th, 2017|Categories: Attractions & Sights, Photography, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I took many photos in Egypt. Each tomb and temple fascinated me. Especially the hieroglyphs that adorn the walls. Here are some of my favorites from Philae Temple near Aswan, Egypt. A cartouche. A depiction of Isis, who the temple is dedicated to. A pharaoh giving offerings to Osiris. Horus surrounded by lotus flowers. Isis giving the sign of life to the pharaoh. Many of the faces were defaced by early christians, it was pleasing to see these three still with such good detail. A lion and flowers on one of the smaller side temples.

Lush Products for Travel Review

By |July 13th, 2017|Categories: Product Review, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Years ago, I stumbled upon this post on solid shampoo by Alex in Wonderland. As I read a lot of travel blogs, it was just one article among a sea of others. But later in 2015, as I planned my trip to Egypt, I was trying to figure out how to limit the amount of liquids that I'd take to Egypt. On previous trips to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico, I had either checked my main bag, or checked a smaller bag that only contained sunscreen. I didn't want to do that this time, so I started pouring through

Tea Ceremony in Japan

By |June 29th, 2017|Categories: Activities, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Listening to Koto music before the Tea Ceremony If you go to Japan, you must experience a Tea Ceremony! I was lucky to visit a Buddhist temple during my Sister Cities exchange trip to Chino, Japan. The temple grounds are hauntingly beautiful. A community graveyard greeted us from the parking area. Then as we walked through the lush green forest, I spied little Jizo statues along the pathway, and a pond on the other side. It was so peaceful. We were then ushered though the garden before entering the temple. It is common to walk across dewy ground

Tips to Avoid the “Lost Bag” Worse Case Scenario

By |June 1st, 2017|Categories: Travel, Travel Tips|Tags: , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Let me get this out of the way: I'm one of those "crazy" carry-on only travelers. I prefer to keep my things with me at all times. I hate the fear of losing a bag, having things stolen, or having a bag damaged. I also hate having to wait at baggage claim for my bag. I'd rather get out of the airport as quickly as possible. But sometimes carry-on only isn't an option, or your bag gets gate checked. So here are my best tips if you have to part from your bag. Source Main Carry-On One way

Getting Over Eating Alone

By |May 18th, 2017|Categories: Travel, Travel Tips|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I use to be incredibly shy and introverted. So I already knew my first solo business trip back in 2010 was going to push me to my limits (and it did right away with sitting in the cockpit of an airplane!) But, I figured it would be fine. I'd be at a resort with my clients and all their employees. I'd have my meals with them, I'd get to know them well. It would be good, it would be fine. It wasn't. It turns out that this three-day employee conference I flew out for...actually only had the "trade show floor" open
