July started with a bang. The bar across the street decided to do their own illegal fireworks show, but with the wind the major/professional style fireworks they lit off kept drifting and going off near my roof. My dog, who has never minded fireworks in her 11 years on this earth freaked out as the booms and lights kept getting closer. At one time I felt the heat and embers hit me from the fireworks. Miraculously they didn't burn down my condo. Beyond that, July was pretty chill. After the whirlwind of hikes in June, I stayed mostly home in

Happy Holidays! This year I did a bunch of events for the Holidays! From an Art Giveaway at Understudy from the artist Jonathan Saiz who you'll remember from the Blue Chipped Vending Machine to decorating cookies with friends! (As you can see, we think alike! Dino Ugly Sweaters For the Win!) I also went with my family to the Gaylord hotel to see the Holidaze Cirque performance: View this post on Instagram Cirque! Ralph McQuarrie greatly influenced the design of Star Wars. I was lucky to get a gift of one of his original art books from the 70's and then later when Denver Art Museum displayed his works alongside their Star Wars: The Power of Costumes I was excited to see this original painting. Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.
It was a very busy month for me! I saw Kathleen Madigan perform, went to a Broncos game with my Dad (they actually won!), watched Monster Trucks with my nephew and went on two trips! Today is Geek Pride Day! So I wanted to share my Han Solo Carbonite lunchbox and X-Wing straw I got for lunch a few years ago when visiting Disneyland. Souvenir Saturday is an every-other week series on the items that represent travel memories.
A few years ago the Denver Art Museum had a great exhibit called Star Wars: The Power of Costumes. In honor of the upcoming Star Wars Day I wanted to share some of the great designs and drawings that were displayed. My top favorite was this design of a shell like hairstyle for Padme. More early Padme designs, I like the bottom one of the one below, based on a victorian dress. This design was actually created by George Lucas himself, and the museum did a good job showcasing the materials used to make the costumes. Another unused design, this proves
Another whirlwind month done! First up I went to CU's Colorado Shakespeare Festival to see Love's Labor Lost. We had a lovely picnic before the show, and it was an interesting play I hadn't seen before. Picnic by flute. A post shared by Lili (@liliontheloose) on Jun 9, 2018 at 6:03pm PDT Then I went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. This was hands down the most beautiful and horribly laid out museum exhibit I've ever been to. Small objects in tight single person view windows. Lots of text only at 5.5 foot
January was the completion of a major work project, so didn't do much outside of that. We did have a work kickoff, which everyone left a little worse for wear (drinking + the death flu went through the office. As well as night I got locked out of my house as I left my keys at the office so had to sleep at a co-worker's house.) Tessa this month fell in love with a Porg stuffed animal that makes noise, and was sad when I took it away from her. I also got to see the National Stock Show parade
