When I think back to the last of the "Before" or "Normal" times my memories of early January are ironically filled with sickness. A double-barrel Flu was sweeping Denver. Co-workers hacked and coughed, sneezed, sniffled, and runny noses abound. And not just at work, the bus became a gauntlet as well. But it was "normal". January was the completion of a major work project, so didn't do much outside of that. We did have a work kickoff, which everyone left a little worse for wear (drinking + the death flu went through the office. As well as night I got locked out of my house as I left my keys at the office so had to sleep at a co-worker's house.) In 2014 we were determined to have a perfect view of the Coronado's Independence Day Parade. The year before we woke up too late, and had to stand at a corner, craning to see.  So my father had gotten up early, and staked out premo places outside of our hotel so we could see the parade in comfort.
