Pandemic Year 1: November 2020

The start of this month was stressful for obvious reasons. Instead of Election Day, we'd have Election Month. I had been worried about supply chain issues so I made sure to get stocked up prior to election day, including two small turkey breasts. One for my parents, and one for me if we went into lockdown and I'd need to do a solo-turkey-day. I also picked up some distractions including a new Steiff Triceratops, some more craft kits, some new Tiki mugs, and some shelves. Yes, shelves. I decided to take a few days off after Election Day since I

Pandemic Year 1: October 2020

I love fall. I'm usually planning a ton of activities including haunted houses. But obviously, this year had to stick to more outdoor pursuits. For the first time I want to YA YA Orchard, a small apple orchard outside of Longmont, CO. I had heard about it for years but had no idea where it was.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) I enjoyed walking and viewing their animals, including peacocks, hens, donkeys, and horses. It was such a lovely fall day. That same day we then went on one of the

Pandemic Year 1: September 2020

A song of Fire and Ice is what September 2020 was. Lots of fires in the mountains, which rained ash upon us. Then a random snowstorm would come.  And then we'd have a few days where the wind would send the ash away and it would be a nice day. I also did adventure out a few times to see the fall colors starting to change in the mountains, although the fire and smoke made some days not so fun.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) September I was mostly just busy

Pandemic Year 1: August 2020

This month of COVID Quarantine life I stayed home, with just a few visits to my parent's house. They were in the process of cleaning out the crawl space that no one really has been in for over 20 years. So I was helping going through old toys and stacks of papers. I had a few years ago rescued most of the Lego sets, but there were tons of barbies, beanie babies, matchbox cars, and more under the house in various states of disuse. Lots of spider webs with mice pee/droppings on some things that couldn't be saved. I threw

Pandemic Year 1: July 2020

July started with a bang. The bar across the street decided to do their own illegal fireworks show, but with the wind the major/professional style fireworks they lit off kept drifting and going off near my roof. My dog, who has never minded fireworks in her 11 years on this earth freaked out as the booms and lights kept getting closer. At one time I felt the heat and embers hit me from the fireworks. Miraculously they didn't burn down my condo. Beyond that, July was pretty chill. After the whirlwind of hikes in June, I stayed mostly home in

Pandemic Year 1: May 2020

In May I really started settling into this new life. Tessa and I went on many walks, with many many pinecones being brought back as trophies.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) Of which Tessa was very happy.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Lili Armstrong (@liliontheloose) I finally saw Mom and Dad for the first time. They came over for a socially distance "Let's put Lili's Bike together" and we gave up halfway through. I also saw my friend Heather, she and her family came over

Pandemic Year 1: February 2020

Every moment I spent in fear about what we were now calling a Coronavirus, or COVID-19. I spent hours on Reddit message boards. The videos started to get worse out of China. How could they get worse?!? It just seemed to be spreading so badly. With videos of people falling to the ground. Of bodies piling up. Of people drowning in their own fluids. Things I can never unsee. I started to join some Prepper communities and listening to what they had to say. Any amazon link became an instant buy for me. Fake grass for Tessa in case we

Pandemic Year 1: January 2020

By |December 20th, 2020|Categories: Blog Recaps and Roundups|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

When I think back to the last of the "Before" or "Normal" times my memories of early January are ironically filled with sickness. A double-barrel Flu was sweeping Denver. Co-workers hacked and coughed, sneezed, sniffled, and runny noses abound. And not just at work, the bus became a gauntlet as well. But it was "normal". No different than any other year.  I remember trying in vain not to get sick. Daily "Defense" lemonade/tea from Starbucks. One event standing out was the National Western Stock Show Parade. I ran down with a co-worker, and we missed the cows, but caught some
