Recently I made my way down to my favorite museum in Denver, The Denver Museum of Nature & Science and stopped in to visit the Paleontology lab found at the end of Prehistoric Journey. I was delighted to see two members of the Chasmosaurinae Dinosaur family being worked on! The first specimen is a no brainer and my all time favorite dinosaur - TRICERATOPS! This one was found in Wyoming.  The second skull is from a Kosmoceratops part of the same "family" as Triceratops, but with noticeably different frills. Definitely a treat to see both of them! Museum Monday is an

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Friday October 30, 2015 Egypt: Day 9, Part 3 – Aswan at Night It wasn't that long of a walk to the Nubian Museum. When we went the museum actually opened in the morning, then closed around lunchtime, and then opened up again at 4PM and into the night. This is actually rare nowadays in Egypt, as most other sites and museums close around 4-5. Which is actually a bummer as I was still ready to site see around that

The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. This stunning emerald necklace was one of the highlights. The emerald is huge and almost translucent. Necklace worn by Countess of Granard. Cartier London, special order, 1932. Museum Monday: Dionysus Statue Selfie

By |May 30th, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Dionysus taking a Selfie When I was visiting the Roman section of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada the lighting wasn't that great.  I didn't want to use my flash, as that would wash out the details of the statue. So instead I risked using the existing lighting. And it makes it look like this Dionysus statue is taking a selfie. Dionysus at ROM Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

Museum Monday: Amelia’s Vega

By |May 16th, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

84 Years ago Amelia Earhart was preparing to fly this cherry red Lockheed Vega 5B across the atlantic by herself. She was the first woman to do so, and the second person (after Charles Lindbergh) in the world to complete the journey. Later in August 1932 she then flew this plane non-stop from coast to coast! These were just two of her amazing feats performed in this plane. Be sure to check it out at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

Museum Monday: Yousuf Karsh at the Bellagio

By |May 2nd, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I remember a scene in Ocean's 11 here Danny and Tess talk about famous impressionist painters. This is what I was thinking about when I headed to the Gallery of Fine Art at the Bellagio. I had visions of Monet, Manet, and Picasso. After I paid my $16 entry fee and picked up the audio guide I stepped inside...to find out that once again Pop Culture had incorrectly shaped my knowledge of a place. Instead of grand paintings I was greeted with monochromatic portraits. That is when I learned the Bellagio Gallery frequently changes up its exhibitions and currently they

Review: Chocolate Exhibit at DMNS

By |April 18th, 2016|Categories: Museums, Travel, Travel Review|Tags: , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I was excited to see Denver Museum of Nature and Science's take on a Chocolate Exhibit as I had visit the Choco Museum in Antigua, Guatemala and had learned how to make chocolate there. Chocolate: the Exhibition is running now through May 8th and is included with your DMNS admission or membership. When you first walk in, you'll see lifesize models of the tree and pods. Many facts are displayed in both English and Spanish about the tree and how it grows. (I was amused to hear a little kid go "EWWE, Chocolate likes death!" When he read that rotting
