Museum Monday: Terror Bird Skull

By |March 7th, 2016|Categories: Dinosaurs, Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

This looks like a innocent bird skull right? It's not! It is a skull of the Terror Bird, the largest carnivorous flightless bird that ever lived. At 10 feet tall and fast moving, this sucker was considered an Apex predator of its day. I had heard of this animal but it wasn't until I was staring into this skull that I realized how terrifying it really was.  Its skull was 3 times the size of my own head! This skull is about as big as a medium sized dog. Museum Monday is an every other week series about

Museum Monday: Triceratops Horridus at the Smithsonian

In the summer of 2013 I was able to visit many of the wonderful free museums of Washington, DC. One of my favorite was the Natural History museum, mainly because of their large Triceratops fossil. Triceratops are my favorite dinosaur, but before this trip I had never seen the fossils of the body! All the ones I had seen before were the head only. So it was a treat to see this exhibit. Sadly, in 2014 the Fossil Hall is undergoing renovations until 2019...which is a long time away from now. They do have a smaller exhibit elsewhere in the

Museum Monday: Paleontology Lab at DMNS

By |November 16th, 2015|Categories: Dinosaurs, Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

When I was little I wanted to be an archeologist or paleontologist. While that didn't happen I can live vicariously through the volunteers and employees at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. At the end of Prehistoric Journey is the Paleontology lab, where you can see the progress that is being made on specimens recently brought in from the field. He kind of looks like John Hammond from Jurassic Park. If you are a member of the museum, they also do many special nights where you can actually go into the lab and see a lot more

There is a little and overlooked museum on the University of Colorado campus called the Museum of Natural History. It is quite small, but has a good section on dinosaurs. Its main piece is a large Triceratops Skull. It even has its own personality and facebook page. Come check it out at the Henderson Building. Triceratops Skull   Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

Jurassic World is Now Open!

By |June 12th, 2015|Categories: Dinosaurs, Geek, Pop Culture|Tags: , , , |0 Comments

Jurassic Park Jeep! Today is the day! Jurassic World is now open! I'm itching to see it in IMAX 3D! My JP Lab Tech costume for the release of Jurassic Park in 3D. I'm still working on an updated Jurassic World version. Also, I stumbled upon this beautiful parallax website with facts about Jurassic Park movie Dinosaurs. It even has a purple triceratops! Check it out! I've always wanted to try to build a parallax website, and I'm toying with the idea of adding some movement in the next redesign of Lili on the Loose.

Birthday Jurassic Sweets

By |February 17th, 2015|Categories: Dinosaurs|Tags: , , |0 Comments

Today is my birthday! Last year I was celebrating my first week at my job and had the day off (For President's Day) but didn't do anything as my parents and sister were out of town. I also was busy trying to put things into storage so I could sell my condo. So I literally spent my birthday packing away my life. Not sure what this year will hold but I'm excited to find out. I also love triceratops! A few years ago I found the cutest Birthday Triceratops. This year I found an entire set of Dinosaurs as yummy
