Travel

This month was the month of opposite travel: Pacific Ocean/Atlantic Ocean, Pleasure/Business Trip, Hot/Cold.

At the beginning of the month I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a beach break! And then at the end of the month I went to Boston, MA for a quick business trip!

Puerto Vallarta

This was an unplanned last minute trip. My mother was going to go to PV again with my aunt, but my aunt backed out. So my mother invited me to come, and then my aunt figured things out so she could come! I’ve never traveled with the two of them before, so this was going to be an interesting trip. Some random highlights:

  • With trusty TSA Pre-check I got through security in about 4 minutes. I was able to get water, eat breakfast, walk to the wrong terminal, walk to the right gate, and sit down and play with my phone LONG before my mother showed up. It took her 45 minutes just to get through security. She just had about 10 minutes before we had to line up at the gate!
  • Our hotel was lovely and right on the beach!

  • I went on a city tour that also took up to a Tequila maker

  • My aunt and I had a spa day, it was one of the most relaxing things I ever did and weeks later still felt amazing!
  • We had dinner on the beach every night!
  • My mom and aunt enjoyed the local shopping. (Tessa didn’t enjoy her gift though.)

  • One morning I had slept in, when I went exploring I stumbled upon my mother and aunt twerking and doing Zumba class in the park!
  • We did a dinner cruise and show, which was amazingly well beyond all of my expectations!

Boston

This was a quick business trip. I was impressed with our AirBnB, it was perfectly situated (but a little city-noisy). I did manage to head over to the Aquarium on a quick lunch break.

Denver

Beyond travel, my time in Denver was busy as well!

  • I sprained my ankle (again….)
  • I lost my voice for over a week. I had to result to using a text-to-speech app for a bit.
  • I went to the Travel & Adventure show! I was front row of the show, so decided to see how Facebook Live worked…and ended up making a bad impression when Rick Steves paused his speech to stop filming him. (I was mortified.) But I got to pan for gold later, and was eaten by a camel (ewe), so it was a busy day.

  • I saw Hamilton! I went in knowing nothing, and really enjoyed it!

It was amazing.

Other Blogs

Another month where I was busy and didn’t read a lot of blogs, but here are a few that caught my eye:

Audio Books

I’m bouncing between Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up, Craig Ferguson’s American on Purpose, and The Life and Loves of a He Devil by Graham Norton. I’ve got to say Graham talking about his dogs was lovely and hysterical. I was trying not to laugh while on planes this month!

Watchlist

TV

On actual TV I’m watching Lucifer, The Magicians, Last Week Tonight, Once Upon a Time, and Madam Secretary.

I watched Manhunt: Unibomber on Netflix which was strangely relevant later in the month with the Austin Bomber on the loose.

Movies

I saw a lot of movies that recently came out for home viewing: Thor Ragnarok, Murder on the Orient Express, and Hitman’s Bodyguard. All I loved!

On Netflix I watched Hyde Park on Hudson, Gad Elmaleh: American Dream, To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, and Up in the Air. I found Up in the Air strangely timely, as I was watching it while packing for a business trip.

Health Plan

Still didn’t get back into calorie counting so only lost a few pounds this month. Will be doing a much larger plan next month!

What’s Next

It’s culture month! In Denver I’ll be seeing the Broadway version of Aladdin, a museum exhibit on Degas, and comedian Lewis Black! Then I’ll be headed to Los Angeles for a 3 day museum blitz culminating in the only US stop of the King Tut exhibit!
