Recipe: Grilled Romaine Salad

By |March 16th, 2016|Categories: Food, Food & Drink, Recipe|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

I love this recipe as the end result is a nice warm salad that reminds me of a light Caesar salad. Ingredients: 1 Head of Romaine Lettuce 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil Course Sea Salt Pepper 1/4 Cup freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese 1 Tablespoon Bacon Bits 1 Tablespoon Tzatziki Sauce Directions: Step 1: Preheat grill to a high heat. Step 2: Remove the large leafy outer layers of the Romaine and then wash the remaining head of lettuce. Pat dry with a paper towel and then cut lengthwise in half. Step 3:  Drizzle the outside with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Local Activities: The Beach at A Basin

By |March 15th, 2016|Categories: Local, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

In Colorado, when someone says they are "heading to the Beach" this doesn't conjure up images of white sand and the crash of the waves. Instead it means one of the 15 picnic areas at Arapahoe Basin. These highly sought after parking areas are perfect for events, as they have close proximity to 3 of the chairlifts at the resort. Check here for pricing and reservation information. As weather warms up, these areas take on a party atmosphere as people eat, drink, grill, and just hang out in-between runs. My company has had a Beach Party Ski Day for the

Travel Missteps: Swept Out To Sea

By |March 14th, 2016|Categories: Travel, Travel Missteps|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

My first trip to Mexico I stayed in an all-inclusive hotel with my family. My mother certainly had an interesting birthday! But she also saved me on this trip. My sister and I had taken a sea kayak out on the beach of our Rivera Mayan hotel. It wasn't much fun as the waves kept hitting us. So my sister turned around. I kept going further out, trying to see the island of Cozumel better. But as I turned around and attempted to come in, I realized frighteningly that I was stuck in a current...that was taking me further out

Egypt Travelogue: Day 6, Part 2 – Streets of Alexandria

By |March 12th, 2016|Categories: Travel, Travel Memories, Travelogue|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Tuesday October 27, 2015 Egypt: Day 6, Part 2 – Streets of Alexandria We turned off the corniche road that rings the edge of the sea, and into the heart of Alexandria. As we drove we saw little slices of everyday life, from the various fruit and veggie stands, local markets, people trying to catch local microbuses. It was fascinating. But it didn't seem as impersonal or quick paced as Cairo did. Probably because the buildings were closer together

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Tuesday October 27, 2015 Egypt: Day 6, Part 1 – Alexandria Pearl of the Mediterranean Elizabeth's photo of our view. I forgot to take photos of this. I woke up and headed down to breakfast before Elizabeth. The breakfast area looks out over the pool, which was half full with muddy water. Its a good thing we were so busy and wouldn't have time to swim...because it wouldn't have been an option. Due to the flooding I'd read

Egypt Travelogue: Day 5, Part 4 – Papyrus Trap & Alexandria

By |March 8th, 2016|Categories: Travel, Travel Memories, Travelogue|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Monday October 26, 2015 Egypt: Day 5, Part 4 – Papyrus Trap & Road to Alexandria We then headed to a "Papyrus Museum", or a store that has been licensed in making real authentic papyrus (fake/cheaper ones are made with banana leaves). The store showed us how the papyrus is cut, left to age in the water, and then how to make it by alternating layers in different directions and pounding out all the water. She showed how it

Museum Monday: Terror Bird Skull

By |March 7th, 2016|Categories: Dinosaurs, Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

This looks like a innocent bird skull right? It's not! It is a skull of the Terror Bird, the largest carnivorous flightless bird that ever lived. At 10 feet tall and fast moving, this sucker was considered an Apex predator of its day. I had heard of this animal but it wasn't until I was staring into this skull that I realized how terrifying it really was.  Its skull was 3 times the size of my own head! This skull is about as big as a medium sized dog. Museum Monday is an every other week series about

Souvenir Saturday: Fuzzy Sheep Magnet

By |March 5th, 2016|Categories: Souvenirs, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

The first magnet I ever collected was from Dublin, Ireland, and it was a fuzzy, wool & wooden, sheep. I had never planned on collecting magnets, as I thought they looked cheesy on a fridge. But when I moved into a new place and the fridge was a hideous off-beige, and so the magnet collecting began. Souvenir Saturday is an every-other week series on the items that represent travel memories.
