Another whirlwind month done! First up I went to CU’s Colorado Shakespeare Festival to see Love’s Labor Lost. We had a lovely picnic before the show, and it was an interesting play I hadn’t seen before.
Then I went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. This was hands down the most beautiful and horribly laid out museum exhibit I’ve ever been to. Small objects in tight single person view windows. Lots of text only at 5.5 foot level, nothing for kids to see, small strips of paper inset into a circular area, barking employees saying “DON’T LINE UP” but if you didn’t line up no one would let you in. I almost left without seeing the Scrolls because I was just so frustrated.
On the other hand I also saw the last day of Creatures of Light, a small exhibit about bioluminescence. I loved the calming music, the engaging and interactive displays, the live animals, and glowing rocks. It was night and day different from the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit.
Later in the month I went to a Meow Wolf sponsored exhibit called Special Guest at the Next Stage Gallery. It’s as weird and interactive as you’d expect!
Then I saw the Book of Mormon. While I did laugh, I realize that is not my sense of humor and didn’t really like the play. I didn’t realize it was the South Park people, a show that while I can get some laughs out of, is just not something I seek out.
It also hailed this month a few times.
And lastly, I went to Top Golf and was decent at it! Very surprising!

Audio Books
I finally finished The Life and Loves of a He Devil: A Memoir: Graham Norton, which was really well done. I then started Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) which I’m enjoying.
Watchlist
TV
I finally got a Hulu account, and binge-watched Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots, and Community (a show I loved but hadn’t seen all seasons). I also started watching HBO’s Westworld and fell in love with it. On Netflix I watched some more Scam City, The Staircase (didn’t like this one much), but I LOVED Queer Eye.
Movies
I finally saw Coco. I don’t know why but I’ve not been on the Disney bandwagon for their last few movies. I disliked Frozen. Moanna was good, but just didn’t have the re-watch value for me. (Or I’m just not a 12 year old girl anymore.) So I waited a while to see Coco. But man it was amazing. This is going to go into my Halloween movie rotation!
I also saw Solo with my dad for an early Father’s Day gift. I didn’t like the movie at first but the last half did make me like this movie.
Gaming
With news of the next Assassin’s Creed game later in the year, I’m trying to finish Assassin’s Creed Origins. I’ve made good progress and still greatly enjoy the game.
Food & Health
I’ve had a lot of health issues in May & June. But I’ve not felt well for many years. I finally just asked my doctor to do a food allergy check. And the results were shocking. Apparently, I’m allergic to Wheat, Peanuts, Soy, & Shrimp. While I rarely ate shrimp, Wheat was in nearly every meal I ate. I loved peanut butter and would eat a lot of it with apples for snacks. Soy, I figured was easy. “I just won’t eat soybeans or soy sauce.” WRONG. Very wrong. Apparently, Soy is in almost everything. From chocolate, gum, chapstick, cookies, breads, most microwaveable meals. Pretty much everything I had in my house either had wheat or soy. It has been a bit hard to settle to this new lifestyle. I threw away everything in my house, and am cooking more. I’ve fallen in love with cauliflower rice. I’m trying new recipes. But mostly…I feel good. I’ve got 1000 times more energy. Almost no stomach problems. No migraines or memory issues. It’s insane the difference.
What’s Next
No big plans in July. I’m mostly just focusing on my health this month.
