I always marvel at the intricate details of old world churches. Many of the ones where I grew up were large mega churches built during the last few decades. But when I first saw the scale and beauty of churches of Europe I was amazed. And then when I visited Coptic Cairo the ancient Hanging Church was so beautiful. The details of the decorations were so unique. The mesmerizing geometric patters I haven't seen in a church before. Here are just a few photos from the entrance.
I had been meaning to see the Dinosaur Exhibit at the Denver Zoo for months. But never made it. So when I realized it was closing after Halloween I got myself in gear! I visited it at night, during the Dinos After Dark Halloween lights event. I'd highly recommend seeing it during this event. Throughout the zoo there are moving dinosaurs lit up with multi-colored lights. Some even make sounds! Here are some of my favorite photos: Closest thing to a Triceratops a Diabloceratops A volcano! I was amused at this one in front of "Bird World", its a utahraptor.
It was a lovely sunny day at Philae Temple in Egypt. This photo reminds me of another I took in Italy of a Roman Arch of Constantine. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
Ramses the Great built a temple at the end of the Egyptian domain. His imposing statues have withstood the test of time, and continue to gaze out across the land. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
I don't know how many times I heard the joke about Nic Cage trying to steal the Declaration of Independence while touring the National Archives. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
I took many photos in Egypt. Each tomb and temple fascinated me. Especially the hieroglyphs that adorn the walls. Here are some of my favorites from Philae Temple near Aswan, Egypt. A cartouche. A depiction of Isis, who the temple is dedicated to. A pharaoh giving offerings to Osiris. Horus surrounded by lotus flowers. Isis giving the sign of life to the pharaoh. Many of the faces were defaced by early christians, it was pleasing to see these three still with such good detail. A lion and flowers on one of the smaller side temples.
Okay, so in the movie it's actually called "Jewel of Morro Bay" but it really is based on the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I actually visited this aquarium last year prior to seeing Finding Dory, which was nice as I could see where the animators drew inspiration from! This is the outer Tidal Pool area. These hints of gold throughout the Hanging Church of Coptic Cairo caught my eye. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
I loved how the light fell on this window looking out onto the water at Philae Temple in Egypt. Every Friday Lili shares her favorite photography & the stories behind the photos.
