One thing on my Disney Bucketlist was to visit the infamous Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar and my business trip earlier in the month let me check this off my list!

Because it was early December the Tiki bar was transformed with holiday decorations.

I was lucky to get a seat inside. It’s first-come-first-served and a seat yourself situation. After waiting around for 5 minutes, a bunch of us were able to do some shuffling. There was a table top for 4 that was just leaving, a party of 4 sitting at two high tops that only had three seats, me, and a couple on a date. I was able to snag the corner high top with the single seat, which had a great view of the entire bar.

True to form, Disney has added some special magic.  When I ordered the winter drink special, my waitress shouted something about a chill was in the air. Suddenly lightning flashed and the lights turned blue. The two “windows” overlooking island and volcano scenes started snowing.

Similar effects happened for different things, such as someone’s 21st birthday (with a stormy sea in the ship in the bottle), and other drinks being ordered causing other effects. At one point the whole place turned red as a volcano, which was very festive.

Overall it was a fun experience and I would definitely do it again!
