Not much going on this month. I did get a new phone (my first in 4 years!) So that was exciting. But I was also sad to hear about Chester Bennington’s death. I went to a Vikings exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and a Rockies game with my company. Here my team getting ready for the game:

Lili on the Loose
So, there were a lot of Egypt posts this month. Usually I try to spread them out, but….I was tired this month, and so pulled up posts that were scheduled later in the year instead of writing new ones. Since I had pre-written a lot of Egypt posts, that is why it was mostly Egypt. I’m still in the rat race of trying to keep up. Not sure how I’ll handle 2018. Usually in this point of the year the bulk of next years posts were already written. As of this moment, I don’t even have this coming Monday’s post written. God help me! Instead of boring you with all of the Egypt posts this month, I just want to highlight my two favorite photo related posts. This one of a fisherman in Alexandria is so beautiful, and I loved this post of detailed photos of Hieroglyphs at Philae Temple. I hope you enjoyed them!
In non-Egypt related posts, I finally shared one of my all time favorite travel stories, about the time I witnessed a determined thief in Edinburgh. It is a story that my family likes to retell to each other to this day. Another family favorite was when we were trapped in a timeshare presentation in Hawaii and had to escape it.
Other Blogs
A lot of these blogs are probably from June, but I was traveling and didn’t have time to read them then. Here are my favorites I read in July, in no particular order:
Informational Articles:
- What happens when your plane catches on fire by Quarts
- Things you should never order from room service by Conde Nast Traveler
- How the rest of the cures hangovers by Thrillist
- 15 Places telling tourists to go home by Conde Nast Traveler
Inspirational Articles I’m saving for later:
- Almost Landing’s Croatia Itinerary
- Thrillist’s Best Iconic NY Attractions Ranked
- Landloper’s great photos of Alhambra
- Wandering Trader’s Santorini Top Attractions
- YTravel’s Things to do at Lake Como
- Dangerous Business’ Photos to Inspire at trip to Oregon
Other Fun Articles:
- I told you last month about how much I loved the Everywhereist’s book, and this blog post is another reason why I love that author.
- I loved seeing this video of the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries in Paris, it brings back a lot of memories of my first trip abroad.
- I admire this guy who tested baggage handlers by checking a single can of beer…and it made it!
- This article of traveling while being also a homebody really hit home for me.
- And finally, I loved this comparison of Game of Thrones screenshots and the places it was filmed at!
Audio Books
I’m still on an autobiography kick, and I am bouncing around more from Carrie Fisher, Eddie Izzard, and Tina Fey. Also, confession, I tend to listen to audio books in the bathroom, so when I got 3 Amazon Echo Dots this month, I put one in the bathroom. I also think my bathroom is the only non-soundproof room, so I’m sure my neighbors can hear Tina Fey’s talk of her gay friends at her theater job, Eddie Izzards “Endless Footnotes”, and Carrie Fisher’s weird life. Well at least its entertaining for them?
Watchlist
TV
This was the month we had been waiting for. Game of Thrones Season 7: Winter is Here!
I also finished up more Death in Paradise, before starting 30 Rock after listening to Tina Fey’s audiobook. I think I am Liz Lemon.
Movies
I saw two movies in theaters this month! Spiderman Homecoming and Dunkirk. I liked them both. Spiderman was a fun movie, and I think the best out of all the Spiderman movies. Dunkirk is a must see in theaters, it really is stunning and will be winning a lot of Oscars!
On Netflix I watched a few other movies like Spotlight, Zodiac, and Doctor Strange.
Gaming
I got a Samsung Gear VR headset, so have started trying to play some VR games. However, my dog doesn’t like me wearing the headset so haven’t played it that much yet.
What’s Next
Nothing big planned in August. I am excited for an office trip to Elitches Theme Park!
