Hieroglyphs of Philae Temple

I took many photos in Egypt. Each tomb and temple fascinated me. Especially the hieroglyphs that adorn the walls. Here are some of my favorites from Philae Temple near Aswan, Egypt. A cartouche. A depiction of Isis, who the temple is dedicated to. A pharaoh giving offerings to Osiris. Horus surrounded by lotus flowers. Isis giving the sign of life to the pharaoh. Many of the faces were defaced by early christians, it was pleasing to see these three still with such good detail. A lion and flowers on one of the smaller side temples.

The Carvings of Edfu Temple, Egypt

Edfu's Temple had so many amazing carvings that there were too many to show in my first post. So here I present to you more of the temple. One of the side passages between the outer walls and the inner sanctum. Every bit carved beautifully and with lion-headed gargoyles that divert the rain off the sanctuary roof. One of the inner rooms shows the Pharoah along with a goddess. Set being speared by Osiris . Birds and fish in a net. Museum Monday: Egyptian Antinous

Antinous was a lover of the Roman Emperor Hadrian who drowned in Alexandria in October 130 AD. After his death Hadrian commemorated him with many different statues and elevated Antinous to an almost god-like hero/deity. This version shows Antinous as Osiris, an Egyptian god who came back from death after his body was scattered in the Nile. This is actually a remarkable Roman take of the typical Egyptian statue pose of royalty, with one foot forward. It is on display at the Vatican Museum. This is my travel diary of my trip to Egypt. It contains in detail my memories of what I did and saw. Sunday November 1, 2015 Egypt: Day 11, Part 1 – Early Morning in Edfu Photo by Tara We got up and met in the lobby of the ship. I recall drinking what was called orange juice, but was more related to Tang. (We'd have our actual breakfast after we got back.) We then headed out to take our horse carriage to Edfu Temple. Apparently, when the city and cruise ships tried to switch to buses, the locals rebelled
