The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. This was the first piece to actually depict a full panther, not just parts as inspiration. In 1918, Toussaint joined the company as a designer and frequently came up with panther-inspired designs, earning the nickname “La Panthére" partly for her bold designs and strong personality. The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. There were many beautiful tiaras at the Cartier exhibit. While I loved the early tiaras for their ornate garland style, this beautiful aquamarine is also timeless. Museum Monday: Cartier Pearl Necklace

By |July 27th, 2015|Categories: Museums, Travel|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. I was mesmerized by some of the older designs, including this 1911 necklace that features platinum, diamonds, and pearls. Its hard to see but the connectors of the chain are a swirl around a 4 diamond floral pattern. Before cultured pearls, pearls were worth more than diamonds. 1911 Cartier Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.

The Denver Art Museum had an exhibit called Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century which I was lucky enough to see in its last few days. I found that I loved the early styles of the 1900's. One unique piece was a Stomacher Broach made in 1907. Stomachers were worn below the breast on the stomach. It is in the Garland style and is made with platinum, diamonds, and 51 carats of sapphires. Cartier Paris 1907 Museum Monday is an every other week series about museum news, objects, and reviews.
