I use to be a horrible packer, waiting until the last minute. This lead to many sleepless trips such as the time I finished packed at 4AM for my trip to Japan. Unfortunately my shuttle was picking me up at 4:30 AM so there was no point in sleeping.

But one day that changed in me. I started to have everything packed and ready in advanced. And then I started cleaning my entire home and having it ready for when I returned. That was always nice as now when I get home, no matter how tired I am, I unpack and start a load of laundry, and then go to sleep. That way in the morning I would only have to deal with travel memories and souvenirs.

But one time, I got everything done way early. I was packed, my house was clean, and I had 2 hours before the shuttle would pick me up for my trip to Costa Rica. So to relax I started myself a nice bath. I hadn’t even been in it for 10 minutes when my phone rang. I debated on if I should answer it or just relax and check my messages later, but curiosity got the better of me.

“Hello?”

“Hello is this Lili? This is Super Shuttle.”

“Yes, are you still coming 2 hours from now?”

“Actually, I’m coming early.”

“How early?”

“I’m outside, we need to leave in 5 minutes.”

I’m buck naked as I was attempting to take a bath to destress, and now instead I’m totally much more stressed out. I ran around zipping up suitcases, drying off, and throwing on clothes. I threw my pants on so hard, that my button flew off. I had no other options for pants, so I grabbed a safety pin and a sewing kit, and hiked up my pants as I ran downstairs. I had to take my pants off to sew the button back on so had to wait until I was at the airport bathroom to do so.

I was so bewildered I didn’t ask why I was picked up 2 hours early. But it was just lucky I was fairly prepared otherwise it could have been disastrous. But since then, I’ve made sure I’m ready 3 hours before I need to go, and then just sit stressing out while waiting for my shuttle to arrive.
